Awards The
Judith C. Gilbert The Writing Conference, Inc.
will present awards to those who have made significant
contributions to the profession in the area of teaching
writing at the 21st annual Conference on Writing and
Literature
held at the Holidome and Holiday Inn, Lawrence, March 1, 2001. The
2001 Writing Teacher Award winners are: Joy McCaleb, Annie
Heidersbach, Michelle E. Bergey. The 2001 Outstanding Educational
Leader Award winner is Deanna Quintrell. Nominations are requested for those teachers who have made significant contributions to the profession in the area of teaching writing. Nominations are also requested for those educators who are in areas other than the classroom who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in support of those who teach writing. Those selected to receive these awards are invited to receive their plaques at the Thursday luncheon of the annual Conference on Writing and Literature. Previous Winners of the Outstanding Writing Teacher Award Those eligible for the Outstanding Educational Leader Awards work in areas other than the classroom and have demonstrated outstanding leadership in support to those who teach writing. Selections will be based on, but not limited to, the candidate's contributions as an inspirational, supportive mentor; an advocate; or a spokesman for the teaching of writing.
